DECLARATION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF BURUNDI ON THE COLLABORATION AND COOPERATION WITH THE OFFICE OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN BURUNDI

Following the aiding and abetting attitude shown by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Burundi, in the preparation of the false and controversial report by the Experts of the alleged UN Independent Investigation in Burundi (UNIIB), the Government of Burundi has decided to suspend all cooperation and collaboration of any kind sort with the Office, and this until further notice.
The decision was communicated to the Head of this Office during a working session with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation this Monday, October 10, 2016.

To this end, the Government of Burundi requests the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to appoint in the meantime a team to renegotiate the Headquarters Agreement, which will determine the mandate, duration and size of its staff in Burundi.
In addition to this decision, the Government of Burundi declared persona non grata on its territory, the three UNIIB experts whose names are : Ms. SAHLI FADEL MAYA, an Algerian national, Mr. CHRISTOPH HEYNS, a South African national, and Mr. PABLO DE GRIEF, a Colombian national ; all three for breaches and serious harm caused to the Government and the People of Burundi.
